Extractive projects in the Sierra Norte of Puebla are imposed without consultation and with repression and violence

Mexico has granted concessions totaling 331,729 hectares to private companies without informing the inhabitants of the Sierra Norte of Puebla. These processes have not respected communities’ rights to free, prior, and informed consent. In complicity with private companies, the government has repressed many of the communities that have organized to defend their territory.
