In July 2018, PODER’s Board of Directors made the decision to change the executive management of the organization to a co-directorship model, consisting of founder Benjamin Cokelet and Fernanda Hopenhaym.
After ten years at the helm of PODER, and given the institutional solidity of the organization, its growth, and strong reputation, Benjamin has decided to step down as co-executive director beginning January 2020 to pave the way for new leadership.
During Benjamin’s term PODER grew programmatically and strengthened itself institutionally. He will leave behind a consolidated organization with significant institutional continuity ensured by a strong codirectorship model and senior management team, established internal systems and procedures, the stability and quality of an excellent and multidisciplinary staff, and by an active and committed Board of Directors.
Fernanda Hopenhaym will continue to serve as co-executive director and we will select another person to join her as co-director. PODER aims to ensure a transparent and professional transition process, which will be conducted with external support to accompany and assist the Board of Directors in the design and implementation of the search process and selection of the new co-executive director.
The job announcement will be posted in July and we aim to complete the selection process in December. The Board of Directors will make the final decision on the selection of the new co-executive director. Any modification or update to this schedule during the transition process will be communicated promptly.
PODER thanks Benjamin for his leadership, vision, and commitment during the last decade. It also thanks all the people and organizations that have accompanied PODER’s development and work from different communities, organizations, institutions, and countries. Together we are part of the growing movement for corporate accountability in Mexico and Latin America.
